Former Hilltopper sprinter Gavin Smellie and his Canadian 4x100 relay finished their Olympic run in gut-wrenching fashion Saturday, getting disqualified after an apparent bronze-medal finish.

Former WKU sprinting star Gavin Smellie ran the leadoff leg for Canada in Friday's 4X100 relay at the London Olympic Games, helping the Canadians earn a spot in Saturday's finals.

Gavin Smellie will be the third and final former Hilltopper to compete in the 2012 London Olympic Games, as he runs a leg of the 4X100 relay for Canada on Friday.

WKU graduate Raigo Toompuu placed 30th out of 37 competitors during Friday morning's shot put qualifying round at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Raigo Toompuu will be the second of three Hilltoppers to compete in the 2012 London Olympic Games early Friday morning.
